Popular hosting (opens in a new tab) provider Hostinger (opens in a new tab) began moving its web development efforts away from its subsidiary, Zyro, after launching a new competing service with the same name.
Zyro was founded in 2019 (opens in a new tab) has been – for over three years – the platform that Hostinger, the parent company, puts to the front line when website development services are needed.
However, when I run the site builder (opens in a new tab) a service that can now be purchased as a bundle deal with a hosting service, the company explained TechRadar Pro that all its resources will now be devoted to the development of the Hostinger website builder platform.
What about Zyro?
In a recent blog post (opens in a new tab)Hostinger has announced that it has introduced Zyro to the Hostinger ecosystem and has renamed it to Hostinger Website Builder.
“We want to have everything under one recognizable brand so that customers (both existing and new) are aware of our ecosystem. However, Zyro will remain available to existing customers,” said Daugirdas Jankus, Chief Marketing Officer at Hostinger TechRadar Pro.
Launched in 2020, the Zyro platform was originally a side initiative by Hostinger aimed at helping users build their own online presence using a drag-and-drop website builder.
Hostinger also mentioned that Zyro will still be available for new customer sign-ups, but will stop all marketing to push the product to get new users.
The Hostinger website builder plan can be purchased for $2.79 per month and includes web hosting, free domain name, free email accounts, free SSL certificates, and up to 100 websites.
The features provided with Hostinger’s website builder are almost identical to Zyro’s services, minus the pricing (Zyro’s website plan is $2.59/month) and there is a separate business plan for $3.59/month for e-commerce platforms (opens in a new tab).
